Library
for Laos was a
2005 Student Council fund
raiser that raised enough money to provide a
school in Laos with a new Library (from less
than scratch). Not only that, but there was
money left over.
Background Info
Melanie Kempster was a member of Teaching
staff who left the school in Term 3 of 2004.
She took on an Australian Government teacher
education position in Laos.
Subsequent to this she made a request to the
ELTHAM College Community for funds to build
a Library for a school in Laos.
Student Council took this on as a major
project for the year and through a variety
of activities managed to raise well in
excess of the $10,000.00 that Mel stated was
necessary for the project.
As a way of saying thank-you the Students of
Senh Sa-ath High School & Phonesy Secondary
School sent these drawings to us. They
depict nature/ scenes of village life in
Loas.
These pictures arrived in early 2006. More>
